Puppy love....

The reason for ranks, is to decide who eats first, who does the breeding, and who is incharge of pack duties. There is no real cause for the Gamma and Delta ranks, it just puts them in a higher eating order, and allows them to have power over the lower ranking members. If something were to happen to the alpha, and they have no offspring, or the offspring are to young, the beta pair becomes alphas. Then the Gamma moves to Beta, the Delta to Gamma. The rest of the ranks rarely change, especially the omega rank. -UNLESS-a challange is issued to a wolven of higher ranking. (ae: The omega challenges the protector, or the delta, a small sparring contest will occur between the two, and the first one to hit the ground, or submit, is the loser, and the winner takes the position.)
