~Mysteries of the Grey Wolf~
~*~Wolves of the Area~*~

Overlook

The wolves have taken my soul,
I am no longer of this Earth.
I roam free riding the wind,
Where ever it may blow.
With amber daggers piercing the night,
Solace I find...
Comfort with those of my own kind.

*~More News~*

The timberwolf, or eastern gray wolf, which was nearly hunted to extinction in the lower 48 states, has been protected under the Endangered Species Act since the early 1970s. In Minnesota, their numbers have recovered as a result of that protection and also because environmental groups have stopped proposed wolf hunting through lawsuits over the last twenty year period.

There are no scientific studies to indicate the exact number of wolves currently in the state. Due to the most current population survey in early 1999 it is estimated that there are approximately 2445 wolves.
